While inositol is included in OviVance specifically to aid in insulin and hormonal balance in PCOS and MetS, it is an extremely safe molecule, and will have no ill-effects if you do not suffer from any of the above conditions. In fact, inositol has been shown to have some benefits when taken by healthy people. The remainder of the ingredients are all vitamins and minerals that, while beneficial to persons with metabolic conditions, are also essential to health in pregnancy and general well-being.

What is PCOS and what might suggest I have it?

PCOS is a condition that results from an imbalance in reproductive hormones, which leads to irregular ovulation, disrupted metabolism and cosmetic issues. Symptoms sometimes start around puberty, especially if hormonal imbalance is the main cause, but can also develop later, often in response to weight gain and insulin resistance.

Importantly, PCOS is not a clear-cut disorder, each person can experience varying degrees of the symptoms below- some may have just one or two while others have many.

The main symptoms of PCOS include, and can be varying combinations of:

  • Infrequent, irregular or prolonged menstrual cycles and associated infertility, resulting in infrequent or irregular menstruation and sub-fertility)
  • Heavy bleeding (irregular periods can lead to heavier bleeding when menstruation does occur)
  • Weight gain or difficulty losing weight (the interplay between insulin resistance and androgen excess is complex, and often leads to difficulty in managing weight)
  • Abnormal hair growth
  • Thinning hair or male-pattern baldness
  • Acne
  • Darkening of the skin, particularly along neck creases, the groin and underneath breasts
  • Skin tags (small growths or bumps of skin, especially in the armpits or neck area).
  • Polycystic ovarian morphology (multiple ‘cysts’, or small, fluid filled sacs in the ovary). Only your doctor can check for this.

What time of the month is a woman fertile?

Usually, ovulation occurs 2 weeks before your period starts; this is the most fertile time in a woman’s cycle. So, if you take the number of days in your usual cycle and subtract 14, you’ll be able to determine the best time to try and conceive. For example, a woman with a 32-day cycle would likely ovulate around day 18 (32-14=18), while a woman with a 28-day cycle would ovulate around day 14 (28-14=14). Intercourse should take place regularly on the days before, on the day and a few days after for the best chance of falling pregnant.

How can a woman tell if she ovulates?

A regular period is the best indication that you’re ovulating. Count the first day that you have a full flow of blood, to the next time and day you have a full flow this will tell you how many days are in your menstrual cycle. Usually, having a cycle that is between 24-36 days is considered regular. Keeping track of your menstrual cycle is a valuable part of your medical history, should you need to see a fertility specialist.

Is my stress causing my infertility?

Increased cortisol level due to chronic stress can have a negative effect on your reproductive health. Trying to conceive can contribute to extra stress on a couple’s relationship and should not be ignored. NeuroVance can combats stress and anxiety and can be used in combination with OviVance and other medication.
