Our healthcare programmes
  • The LightHouse Weight-loss Programme

You can use both effort & strategy to lose weight. While more effort is important, it is our opinion that better strategy will serve you best.

  • Basic CPR and First Aid Course

Knowing some basic life rescuing techniques can save the lives of your family, friends and colleagues. As a legislative requirement, in alignment with the Occupational Health and Safety act 85/1993, all companies now require qualified first aiders on site during working hours. We offer a range of courses, preparing you for that day when your small contribution can make a lasting difference.

  • The Anchor Stress Management Programme

Stress and depression are on the increase. With the Anchor Stress Management Programme you are taught self-help techniques for improved interpersonal relationships and internal motivation.

Our research projects

As the LightHouse software programme is part of Allergra, the preferred operating system of most pharmacy clinics, we have access to a large database and communication platform, enabling us to activate various research programmes:
We are currently conducting studies on the following topics:

1) Motivation
How to increase levels of motivation when on a weight-loss programme. Is it reward or the absence of hardship that will benefit levels of motivation best?

2) Compulsive and Impulsive overeating patterns
Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) play a major role in dietary control and the development of obesity. This study looks at the prevalence of these conditions, as well as practical intervention strategies.

3) The role of resistance training versus cardiovascular exercise
Whilst physical activity is crucial to good health, the truth is that it doesn’t always help you lose weight. Our study examines the weight-loss benefits of resistance training in comparison to cardiovascular exercise.

4) Cardiovascular risk in relation to psychological wellbeing
Numerous studies have predicted cardiovascular risk according to standard risk factors. Lifestyle habits are the foundation of wellness and require an internal locus of control which should be self-motivated. Motivation is dependent on many physiological factors. Our study examines the link of cardiovascular morbidity and mortally in relation to mood and emotional disorders.

5) Healthy eating
It’s fine to tell people to eat healthy food. But what if they don’t want to? We examine various practical strategies to achieve this goal.
