And the Oscar goes to... “Lighter Side of Life” Challenge – Sanlam

“Lighter side of Life” was a pilot study to design an optimum programme for corporate obesity control in Sanlam.
The “Lighter Side of Life” challenge was launched by Sanlam for their employees and 353 applications were received.
Sanlam chose 25 employees from the 353 applicants, of these 25 from Obesity class II and III
(that is those with a Body Mass Index of 35 and higher). These 25 employees then had the opportunity to choose their preferred service provider.

23 chose MNI – The Lighthouse weightloss Programme!

The bottom line is all about STATS and here are some stats regarding the outcome and success of the challenge:

  • Collectively the Sanlam group lost 533kg
  • The average weight of the contestants at the start of the challenge was:

males: 155.7kg females: 115.2kg

  • And after the challenge

Males: 129.1kg and females: 88.4 kg

THE WINNERS STATS:

Total weightloss 59.6kg
Total percentage weight loss 36.4%
Total BMI loss – from 48.3 to 30.7

Nothing is impossible if you join the Lighthouse Weightloss Programme. Nothing!

What an experience it was. Well I may have not won the big prize but i won a huge battle with myself. You know when people(the Dr phil's, Oprah's, you name them) say it's all in the mind, they actually mean IT IS ALL IN YOUR MIND. If you believe you can do it, then yes you can, the opposite is also true. If you believe you can do, you will get out there is seek help and commit yourself. Some people may not notice the difference, but i have. In any case i was not doing this for anyone else but myself, 20kg in 10 months is a lot and I am proud of myself for getting into the program and sticking with it when the going was tough. I stopped feeling sorry for myself and decided to do something about it once and for all. The results :-), well it's one of those things that you just can't find right words to explain.
