Every decision and situation that you face has the same basic components and thought process – well in most people anyway.
- Thought – Emotion – Behavior – Outcome
The brain makes emotional decisions before we are even conscious of that fact! The trick is to manipulate the brain before hand, making it difficult to act on those poor impulses.
Think about when you need to choose a vehicle – do I purchase the Toyota RAV 4 or the New Ford Territory?
Should I purchase the Guess handbag or the Nine West bag? The same thought process happens in both decisions. Thought – Emotion – Behavior – Outcome.
Personally I choose the RAV 4 and the Nine West bag! Please don’t judge!
The same is true when choosing food. You want to aim to always make the better choice. You will have a thought, I really would like something sweet, than the emotion kicks in, is this compulsive behavior? What should I choose an apple or big piece of chocolate cake? I suggest you always challenge these thoughts when trying to make a decision!
How do we channel our impulses in a better direction?
Some better choices:
- Custard Whole Milk – choose low fat custard
- Homemade Gravy – choose gravy made with water
- Cheese Whole Milk – choose cheese low fat
- Ice cream – choose sorbet”

Slimming medication? How to choose? |
|
The latest scandal in slimming medication made us all aware of how terribly exposed we are when most vulnerable – desperately wanting to lose weight.
So, what to do? Here is a quick check list to keep you safe:
- The ordinary person will not know from the packaging whether the ingredients are safe. Go to your medical doctor or pharmacist and aske them to interpret the ingredients. Easy as that!
- What to do if the manufacturer does not list all the ingredients? Well then we all have a problem. However, here the same golden rule applies as when you want to invest your hard earned money. If the promise is too good to be true, it is too good to be true! If the advertising is too positive, you need to be very careful. Remember there is no silver bullet that will wisk all your excess weight away in a jiffy. Expert marketers can usually judge by advertising and packaging alone whether a product is sailing too close to the shore.
- There are basically two ways in which slimming medication works. The low road is by suppressing your appetite and dehydrating you, which addresses symptoms but not the underlying cause of your weight problem. The second way is by addressing your insulin resistance. More and more the medical profession recognises that the role our metabolism plays in our weight problems has to do with insulin. So ask your doctor or pharmacist whether the medication you want to buy is taking the low road or the high road of insulin control?

Do you have a lunch box? Take control of your lunch! We would not dream of sending our children to school without a healthy lunch box. Not for fear of the child welfare getting their hands on us but for fear that our children are not eating a balanced lunch at school every day. They need the good, wholesome lunch for energy. They need the nutrients for mental vitality – heaven forbid your child is not one of the cleverest in the class. My child comes home everyday and tells me what healthy and interesting snack “Johnny” had in his lunch box. I make sure I have it for him the next day in his lunch box, what if “Johnny’s” mom knows something about this snack that I do not. I want the best for my child, I control his or her lunchbox. But what do I do for myself? Nothing? Deliver myelf to the mercy of the fast food indusry? We also need a wholesome lunch for energy at work. Mental Vitality? If we do not feed our brain the correct nutrients how can we be the most successful person in out department. Please make sure that you are not just “ANOTHER BRICK IN THE WALL.” SO…. WHAT'S IN YOUR LUNCH BOX?
